RP Glasfiber is a premier Swedish manufacturer of custom fibreglass materials for automobiles and a sponsor of the Saabs United Historic Rally Team. RP Glasfiber will be providing us with our custom wheel arch extensions.
For RP Glasfiber, it all started with an interest in tuning and building cars. The company has supported racers who would like to enhance performance. The easiest way to enhance a car’s performance is to get rid of weight and panels remade in fibreglass are the lightest and most practical way to go. Today, RP Glasfiber has some 2500 forms for both standard cars, race cars and snowmobiles.
The company was founded in 1979 in Anders garage in Grytnäs, near Kalix – right up near the Arctic Circle. The company has now expanded to a facility of 1100 square meters. This enables them to make moldings of not only panels, but also complete cars and boats. RP Glasfiber also serve their customers with a complete car workshop for all sorts of repairs and modifications and paint jobs.
RP has been very supportive of our rally team efforts. What makes the company interesting for us is the wide array of Saab products they offer in fibreglass. For our cars we are putting their fender extenders and front spoiler, but they have a number of parts that are especially suited to Saabs. Their Saab hoods, for example, can be treated with a heat-resistant product in order to cope with the extra heat generated by turbocharged engines. They also sell reproduction Saab 99 front spoilers from the Saab Sport and Rally catalog, or their own customised front spoiler.
