‘Freeze It’ strip down our Saab 99 – part 1

by Swade on September 8, 2009

A word from your author……

I’m not a hands-on guy. I wish I was but the truth is that everything I put my hands on tends to break or not function as it’s maker intended. That’s why I’m chrnoicling this journey and Jörgen and Bo are charged with the dirty work.

But one of the amazing things about being involved in this rally team project is all the stuff I’m seeing and learning as I watch the guys go about dismantling this car prior to building it back up again. It really is a fascinating journey.

So, to the latest instalments……

I’ve heard of sandblasting, beadblasting and various other forms of surface removal. But I’d never heard of dry-ice blasting. ‘Freeze It’ are a company in Stockholm who specialise in being the coolest people in what can be a pretty cold country.

The effect of this process is just absolutely amazing. What we have here are a couple of ‘before’ videos to introduce you to the process. In a few days from now we’ll show you the ‘after’ videos and if the samples we see here are anything to go by, the car will be almost totally unrecognisable (but in a good way :-) )
