At the STCS meet at Mantorp Park

As well as owning a Saab 96 V4 MonteCarlo for historic racing, Jörgen is also fortunate enough to have a Saab Turbo X wagon has his daily driver.

This weekend he managed to blow off some steam from the 99T build by attending a track day with the Saab Turbo Club of Sweden at Mantorp Park racetrack.

Following are some videos from the event, and I’ve added one video of my own from Kinnekulle racetrack back in 2007. You’ll see why as you scroll down.

Some of the videos’ soundtracks are wind-effected, unfortunately, but you should get a decent idea of what went on.

Slalom intro

Slalom run I – it’s quite a technical course, actually, with the bend accenuating the turns you need to make and some different gaps between gates ensuring your brakes get a good workout, too.

Slalom run II

The drags – A Saab 9-3 SportCombi and older generation 9-3 in a drag race. I think the SportCombi probably got him in the end.

Family Style – The cars line up in family groups for a run around the track…..

99T special – And Jörgen has a chat with Anders, the owner of a very special blue 99Turbo

I mentioned I’d add an extra video of my own to this collection and it relates to this blue 99T.

Back in 2007, I had the good fortune to travel to Sweden for the Saab Festival. One of the days of the festival involved a track day for attendees at Kinekulle racetrack.

I had a lot of fun that day, and one of the great joys for me was to record vision of this little blue 99Turbo that seemed to be passing absolutely everything. I’m quite sure it was the same car.
